Robert Sondrup, 88, passed away Wednesday, August 28, 1996, peacefully at his home after a lingering illness.
He was born April 28, 1908 in Ephraim, Utah, the son of Jens Christian and Mary Jensen Soundrup. He married Stella Tate July 3, 1930 in Tooele, Utah. The marriage was later solemnized in the Ogden Temple.He was a member of the Roy 5th Ward, a member of the Roy City Beautification Committee. He belonged to the Ogden Eagles and the Roy Elks.
Robert founded Bob's Market in 1946 located in Ogden at 16th and Jefferson. He moved to Roy in 1951 as owner/manager of Sav-Mor Market until retirement in 1969. He loved people and was well known around the Roy area as the Fuller Brush Man. He was an avid gardener and had a green thumb for growing anything. He was always ready with a smile, a helping hand and especially a new joke. He loved his family and especially loved it when his grandchildren visited. We love you Dad.
He is survived by his wife, Stella of Roy; sons, Joe Sondrup of Sunset; Paul R. Sondrup, Burke, Virg.; David W. Sondrup, Tucson, Ariz.; 10 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother and father and father, and 18 brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 31, 1996 at Myers Mortuary, 5865 South 1900 West. The family will meet friends at the mortuary Friday from 6-8 p.m. and on Saturday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.
