Lorraine Ivy Brinkman Cummings, 81, died August 1, 1996 in Kanab, Utah.
Born February 7, 1915 in Salt Lake City to Frederick W. and Emilie Augusta Klieschies Brinkman. Married Harold Moses Cummings, June 27, 1940 in the Salt Lake Temple. He died April 2, 1992. Mrs. Cummings was a compassionate person who voluntarily served the elderly by regularly visiting the rest homes in her area. She was a good homemaker, seamstress, and was devoted to her family. As an active member of the LDS Church, she served in all the auxillary organizations. She and her husband served a mission to Texas San Antonio and Houston 1975-77.Survivors include her children, Sylvia LaRue (Royce) Young, of Alton; Charles Harold Cummings, of Orem; Charmian Cummings Stevenson, of Emery; Kathleen Cummings (Richard) Stevenson, of Chicago; Jay Fred (Alma) Cummings, of Las Cruces, New Mexico; Joy Emily Cummings, of Provo; 38 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sister, Sora Selby, of San Diego. Preceded in death by brother and sisters, Reinhart W. Brinkman, Rachel Anderson, Lena Loftes, Minnie Sorenson and Rebecca Kasai.
Funeral services will be held Monday, August 5 at 1 p.m. at the East Mill Creek 16th Ward, 3408 South Celeste Way, Salt Lake City, where friends may call from noon until time of services. Burial in Larkin Sunset Garden Cemetery under the direction of Mosdell Mortuary, Kanab.
