Princess Diana's mother has pleaded not guilty to drunken driving.
Police stopped Frances Shand Kydd, 60, along the western Scottish coast on April 5 for driving erratically. She refused to take a breath test, and a subsequent blood test allegedly revealed 21/2 times the legal limit of alcohol in her blood. On Tuesday, she pleaded not guilty to drunken driving and refusing to take a breath test. Scottish Sheriff Colin McKay set next Tuesday for the trial.
Shand Kydd, who divorced Diana's father when the princess was a child, has blamed constant media attention for marital breakdowns in her family.
In addition to the high-profile breakup of her daughter's marriage to the heir to the throne, Prince Charles, she has said the media glare caused her second husband, wallpaper tycoon Peter Shand Kydd, to walk out. She also blames it for the marital difficulties of her son, Earl Spencer, who separated from his wife in April.
She has lived in Scotland since leaving Diana's father for Shand Kydd more than 20 years ago.
