On Saturday, Aug. 10, the Neighborhood Housing Services of Provo will be sponsoring its first annual "Paint Your Heart Out Provo."

More than 100 volunteers from Nu Skin, the Rotary Club, the Youth Council, city officials, neighborhood residents, church groups and university students will work together to paint eight homes in the Franklin neighborhood. That neighborhood encompasses the area of Center Street to 600 South and from University Avenue to 800 West. The volunteers will paint the exterior of eight homes that belong to senior citizens and people with disabilities who do not have the ability or the resources to paint their homes themselves. All paint and supplies for the project are provided by a Neighborhood Matching Fund Program of the Provo City neighborhood program, Jones Paint and Glass, A&Y Building Supply, Ace Rents and Kwal-Howells Paint.

"This will be a great opportunity for citizens of the community to work together to improve the quality of Provo and at the same time to help those in need," said Lisa Hogan, chairwoman of Paint Your Heart Out. "Everyone will be able to gain from this event."

To kick off Paint Your Heart Out, the Utah County Exchange Club will provide a pancake breakfast for the volunteers at Pioneer Park, 500 W. Center Street. Lunch will be furnished by Subway, Hogi Yogi, Sensuous Sandwiches and Coca-Cola at each home later in the day.

Neighborhood Housing Services of Provo is a nonprofit partnership of residents, local businesses and Provo, encouraging home ownership and revitalization in the Franklin neighborhood.
