The death of a woman who was found dead in her bathtub Wednesday in Magna is being investigated as a homicide, according to Salt Lake County sheriff's officials.

The body of Jamie Weiss, 18, was found by a relative and a friend about 11 a.m. in the bathroom of her Magna home, 3769 S. 8500 West, after the two came by to go shopping, Sgt. Jim Potter said.Initial investigations and an autopsy report late Wednesday indicate Weiss suffered trauma to her head before the apparent drowning, Potter said.

"With some of the physical evidence that we've gathered we are labeling it as a homicide," Potter said.

The woman was the mother of a 2-year-old child. She was living in the home with her fiance and was scheduled to be married in two weeks.

Police have talked to the man about the incident and although he is a suspect, "at this point he's not been booked on anything," Potter said.
