A 17-year-old girl was confronted in her northwest home early Monday morning by a man wielding a knife, police said.

The girl had fallen asleep watching videos in the family room when she was awakened about 2 a.m. by a man holding a knife to her throat, Orem Police Lt. Mike Larsen said. The girl suffered minor cuts in a brief struggle with the man. He fled the house when she screamed.Larsen said the man entered the house through an unlocked kitchen door.
