Umbrellas were the order of the day at the National Tennis Center as rain interrupted play between No. 1 Steffi Graf and 15-year-old Martina Hingis. Their semifinal match was suspended until this morning at 9 o'clock, weather permitting, with Graf up 1-0 in the first set. In the women's other semifinal match, last year's runner-up Monica Seles (above) downed Conchita Martinez 6-4, 6-3 to advance to the finals. With the windblown win, Seles is now 9-0 lifetime against Martinez. For more U.S. Open coverage, see Page D8.
