Some notable performances during Saturday's college football contests:

- Byron Hanspard, Texas Tech, rushed for a school-record 272 yards and scored two touchdowns in a 31-3 rout of Oklahoma State.- C.J. Williams, Georgia Tech, ran for 148 yards and three TDs to lead the Yellow Jackets to a 28-16 win over North Carolina State.

- Mike Minter, Nebraska, intercepted two passes, scoring one touchdown and setting up another as the Cornhuskers smothered Michigan State 55-14.

- Chris Ortiz, Southern Connecticut, returned the opening kickoff 88 yards for a touchdown and caught five passes for 97 yards in a 27-0 win over Monmouth, N.J.

- Danny Wuerffel, Florida, went 15-of-16 for 267 yards and two TDs, setting a school record with a 94 percent completion rate as the Gators blew out Georgia Southern 64-14.
