Mormon Battalion Day activities will begin at 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, at the Sons of Utah Pioneers Building, 3301 E. 2920 South.

Elections for new national officers will be held and awards presented. Dayle White, a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers and editor of a yet-to-be published book, "Women of Faith and Fortitude," will present stories about pioneer women from the book.A Dutch oven dinner will be served at 5 p.m., after which a modified version of a musical, "Sand in Their Shoes," will be presented. Directed by Margaret Larson, the production tells the story of the battalion's march from Council Bluffs, Iowa, to San Diego.

Utah's Old Time Fiddler Band will play for a dance from 7 to 9 p.m. Refreshments will be served. The cost for afternoon and evening activities is $12 per person or $4 per person for dance only. Reservations may be made by calling 943-5818 or 255-3197.
