Eureka, I found them! I knew there must be a couple of coaches like this somewhere.

There are two little league football coaches who are worthy of being called such. Cary Jenson and Fred Benson actually talk to the boys and not to the surrounding neighborhood. They patiently teach tackling, blocking and other techniques and encourage them to improve. They must be and are firm when required. Even their language is clean. What a find!Unfortunately there are those who cannot be counted. Oh, yes, we have heard their arguments that they are making men out of boys in 10 weeks, teaching discipline, developing character and all the other justification. But some of those large-muscled former ball players need to look in the mirror and try to convince themselves that it is necessary to scream, humiliate, threaten, punish and intimidate some 120-pound kid just so they can boast of a winning season.

Come on, you ex-jocks. Teach, but let them enjoy the sport as they build confidence and skills, and maybe you, too, could enjoy the games.

My apology to the many good guys who are coaching and sincerely trying to do their best to develop and help the young athletes as they, too, are worthy of our appreciation and praise.
