A 3-year-old boy died in an early-morning house fire Tuesday at this remote western Juab County town.
The victim's name had not been released Tuesday pending notification of kin.It appears at least two families lived in the house. Residents noticed the fire about 2:30 a.m., said Juab County Sheriff David H. Carter. Everyone except the 3-year-old boy was able to evacuate the home and take shelter in a mobile home located on the property.
There was no heat in the mobile home and about 6 inches of snow had fallen on the ground.
A woman and a small child were taken by ambulance to the Delta Hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation, Carter said. Other small children were treated for frostbite.
The fire may have been started by an alternate heat source, possibly a kerosene heater, Carter said.
