Highland city manager John Newman will become Alpine's new city administrator. He will work for both cities part-time for a six-month trial period effective Tuesday, the City Council agreed Tuesday. His salary through June is $16,500.
The council had about two dozen applicants for the job, including Newman. Originally the post was a combined administrator-city planner job with a $35,000 annual salary. Officials later raised the salary to $40,000 but now have separated the roles into two part-time jobs and are advertising for a part-time city planner. The salary for that position has not yet been set.Earlier the administrator-planner post was offered to Kenneth Leetham, Riverton's community services director, but he turned it down. Then the council offered the job to Newman and Andy Hall, Payson's city planner. Newman accepted.
