Peacefully passed away in his sleep at home January 15, 1997.
Born July 18, 1926 in Champaign, Illinois, the son of James W. and Ethel Phillips. Married Norma Anglin, later divorced. Married Nola DeGiulio June 9, 1973. Served in the Pacific during World War II. Retired from Consolidated Freightways after 24 years of service and 40 years as a Teamster. He worked for the Department of Corrections and Brinks Armored Car Service, since retirement.Ray enjoyed woodworking, fishing and camping. He loved spending time at their cabin.
He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
Survived by wife, Nola; children, Joyce (Harry) Weis, Reno, Nevada; Beverly (Richard) Lear, Salt Lake City; Thomas Phillips, Murray; Kristy Abbott, Malakoff, Texas; Christy (Jeff) Pando, West Jordan; Bryce (Cheryl) DeGiulio, Riverton; Julie (Tom) Lundy, Riverton; 17 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; also survived by one brother and two sisters. Preceded in death by parents, four brothers, three sisters, and son-in-law, Charles Ray Abbott.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Jan. 20, 1997, 11 a.m., at the Broomhead Funeral Home, 12600 So. 2200 West where friends may call Sunday eve. from 6-8 p.m. and on Monday one hour prior. It was his wishes that he be cremated.
