A car is covered with rubble after a twister smashed into a shopping center in Alberta City, Ala., Friday. No one was in the car. A tornado in Tuscaloosa, Ala., uprooted a tree that killed a passing motorist. It also damaged homes and overturned about 50 cars at a strip mall. A half-dozen people were treated for minor injuries. A section of Interstate 59 outside Tuscaloosa was closed because power lines were knocked down onto the highway. Storms also damaged buildings and caused injuries and power outages in Tennessee.
