SHARE ICS LIONS ROAR BY RICH GIRLS FOR 1A UPSET

Danielle Mahfood turned in a double-double and Paige Wager provided the scoring punch as Intermountain Christian pulled off a 50-47 upset victory over Rich Saturday in girls basketball action.

Mahfood finished with 10 points and hauled in 15 rebounds, while Wager led all scorers with 18 points in the nonregion win. Jessi Weston topped the fifth-ranked Rebels with 15 points.In other action Saturday:

CLASS 2A

Region 13

North Sevier 40, San Juan 36: Ann Braithwaite led three Wolves in double figures with 14 points in the win over the Broncos. Karstin Slade had 15 for San Juan.

Monticello 48, Kanab 41: The Buckaroos held off the Cowboys rally to take the victory. Amber Westcott led Monticello with 18 points, while Ashley Chamberlain had 15 for Kanab.

CLASS 2A

Region 13

Beaver 66, Monticello 56: Shane Sagers poured in 23 points and Daniel Carter chipped in 15 for the Beavers in the win over the Buckaroos.

South Sevier 63, Kanab 51: Scotty Stevens had a huge game, scoring 37 points with three 3-pointers to lead the Rams' charge. Noah Giddings had 12 points for the Cowboys.

CLASS 1A

Region 14

Meridian 77, West Desert 60: Spencer Chandler fired in 22 points, Justin Lin added 13 points and seven assists and Zach Taylor had 13 rebounds to lead the Mongoose. Russ Anderson led the Hawks with 18 points.

NONREGION

San Juan 64, Aztec, N.M. 46: Tate Bennett crashed the glass for 20 rebounds and scored 16 points as the Broncos pummeled their New Mexican foe. Corey Halliday added 15 points for San Juan.

Richfield 47, Millard 29: The Wildcats played tough defense, holding the Eagles to single digits in three quarters to take the lopsided victory.

Green River 60, Bryce Valley 50: Dane Johnson poured in 21 points and Sy Harrison was a perfect 10-for-10 from the free-throw line en route to a 19-point outing to lead the Pirates.
