Vernon Guthrie, 74, died in Phoenix, Arizona, January 24, 1997 after a short illness.
Born October 10, 1922 in Harkers Island, North Carolina to John Henry Guthrie and Miriam Gaskill Nelson. Married Elsie Mae Turner September 11, 1944 in Straits, NC; later solemnized in the Mesa Arizona Temple. Worked as a fiberglass finisher most of his life. He was an active member of the LDS Church and a devoted temple worker.Survivors: Vernon Evans (Julene), Phoenix, AZ; Dean (Julie), Murray; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and brother, Julian, Harkers Island, NC.
Funeral services to be held Thursday, January 30, 11 a.m., at the Park Ward, 495 East 5600 South, Murray. Family and friends may visit one hour prior to services at the church. Interment, Murray City Cemetery.
