Our father, grandfather and great-grandfather John Glenroy Iverson, 89, of Pleasant Grove passed away peacefully in his sleep, at his home, of natural causes January 26, 1997.
He was born May 18, 1907 in Pleasant Grove the youngest child of Alma Nicholas and Sarah Ann Jane Tuckett Iverson. He married Zella Ford who passed away one year after their marriage. He married Melba Keeler in 1933. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. They had seven children. Melba passed away in 1953. He married Alice Rawlings in 1965. She passed away in 1990.He graduated from Pleasant Grove High School where he was a wrestling champion for three consecutive years. He performed strong man acts at the Orpheum Theater in Salt Lake City. He attended Utah State Agricultural College in Logan. He worked at the Bingham Copper Mines and at Geneva Steel as an electrician until his retirement in 1972. He was one of the first Eagle Scouts in the Utah National Parks Council. He became a Scoutmaster at a young age. He received the honor of Silver Beaver in 1986. John's hobby was a small farm where he raised animals and a small grape vineyard.
He is survived by seven children: Johnny (Jeanine) Iverson, Jane (Eldon) Huntsman, Ron (Suk) Iverson, Charmane (Milton) Riggs, Grant (Pauline) Iverson, Pamela Tidwell, Carole (George) Edwards, 30 grandchildren and 62 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by one grandchild and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 1, 1997 at 11 a.m. in the Old Manila Chapel, 3986 West 8800 North, Pleasant Grove. Friends may call Friday evening from 6-8 at Olpin Family Mortuary, 500 South 300 East and at the church on Saturday from 9:45 to 10:45. Burial will be in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery.
