SHARE BYU NAMES DIRECTOR OF COOPERATIVE EDUCATION

James H. Backman has been named new director of cooperative education and internships at Brigham Young University.

Backman replaces Clark Thorstensen, who was named associate director of the BYU Jerusalem Center last fall. The appointment is effective immediately.In his new position, Backman will supervise the integration of university-level academic study with work experience in cooperating organizations, thereby complementing students' major fields of study. BYU sponsors cooperative education internships throughout the United States as well as in international settings.

He will report to associate academic vice president Cheryl Brown.
