Bessie Candland Olsen, 96, passed away January 5, 1997 in Bountiful, Utah.

Born October 10, 1900 in Nephi, Utah to Victor Eugene and Catherine Maiben Candland. Married Farrel John Olsen, June 5, 1924 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She served in the Utah State PTA, was a member of the Wasatch Gem Society and Mineralogical Society of Utah, and a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She enjoyed ceramics and the friends she made while doing this. She traveled worldwide with her husband making many lasting friends. She was a talented cook and gardener.She led an active life in the LDS Church. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be missed by her family and friends.

Survived by two daughters; Catherine (Kay) Amundsen, of Sacramento, CA; Irene Crosby, of San Jose, CA; three sons; Dr. Farrel John (Jean) Olsen, Jr., of Carbondale, IL; Dr. Candland L.

(Alice) Olsen, of Bountiful, UT; Paul G. (Jean) Olsen, of Holladay, UT; 26 grandchildren, and 44 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, Farrel; and son; Joseph C. Olsen.

Funeral services will be held 12 noon, Friday, January 10, 1997 at the Winder 6th Ward Chapel, 4366 South 1500 East. Friends may call Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 Highland Drive and Friday at the church prior to services from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m. Interment at Holladay Memorial Park, 4800 Memory Lane.
