Bulldogs unbeatable so far in '97

Second-ranked Provo ended the first half of play in Region 6 the same way it began - unbeaten.

Behind the serving of Tammy Hardy, the Bulldogs improved to 7-0 in region play Tuesday by pounding winless American Fork 15-0, 15-1.Hardy served all 15 points in the first game for Provo and followed it up by serving points 5 through 15 in the second game.

Alta def. Timpanogos 15-6, 15-10: Julie Brinton and Kristen Ross combined for 13 kills as the Hawks soared past the Timberwolves.

Jordan def. Brighton 13-15, 15-9, 15-7: The strong play of Ruth Hansen and Liz McComber propelled the Beetdiggers to a rally win over the Bengals.

Mountain View def. Hillcrest 15-5, 15-12: Andrea Steele and Erin Hansen helped the Bruins get a road win over the Huskies.

Region 4

Mountain Crest def. Bonneville 15-13, 15-3: The Mustangs won the battle between the region's top teams, despite Natalie Cook's five kills and seven digs for Bonneville.

Box Elder def. Roy 15-9, 15-12: The strong hitting of Karianne McCree and Stephanie Johnson propelled the Bees past the Royals. Katie Hotchkiss had seven kills for Roy.

Fremont def. Logan 15-8, 15-4: The Silver Wolves improved to 3-4 with a home win over the Grizzlies.

Sky View def. Weber 15-10, 15-10: The Bobcats stopped their three-match losing streak with a road win over the Warriors.

Region 5

Bountiful def. Olympus 15-7, 15-12: The Braves remained unbeaten in region play by sweeping the Titans.

Cyprus def. East 15-3, 15-2: Katrena Ellett pounded out 11 kills, while Stacy Peck added five digs and three aces to lead the Pirates past the Leopards.

Highland def. Judge 15-1, 15-3: The Rams got back on the winning track by whipping the Bulldogs.

Woods Cross def. West 15-8, 12-15, 15-8: Liz Naegle and Liz Lovell combined for 12 kills and 20 blocks to pace the Wildcats over the Panthers.

Region 6

Springville def. Payson 15-6, 12-15, 15-5: Jody Larsen and Beth Webster combined for 10 blocks for the Lions, but the hitting of Jennifer Kirby propelled the Red Devils to victory.

Pleasant Grove def. Spanish Fork 15-9, 15-9: Sarah Connor tallied nine kills, and Brandy Boren added four aces to pace the Vikings past the Dons.

Region 7

Granite def. Bear River 15-3, 15-4: Angela Strader recorded six blocks, and Jandi Martin served up nine points as the Farmers dumped the Bears.

Tooele def. Ben Lomond 15-4, 15-6: Natasha Raddatz posted numbers of five kills and three aces in leading the Buffaloes past the Scots.

Morgan def. Ogden 15-2, 15-6: Lisa Walker recorded four digs in the Trojans' victory over the Tigers.

Region 8

Delta def. Carbon 7-15, 15-13, 15-10: The blocking of Lucey Dalton helped the Rabbits rally past the Dinos.

North Sanpete def. Richfield 15-0, 15-5: Hayley Palmer served the first 13 points of the match, and the Hawks went on to cruise past the Wildcats.

Region 10

Uintah def. Park City 15-8, 15-5: Freshman Brooke Nelson served up eight straight points in the first game for the Utes, who pinned a loss on the Miners.

Union def. Wasatch 15-13, 15-11: Tasha Widdison netted seven kills and three blocks for the Cougars as they eked past the Wasps.

Region 11

Millard def. Beaver 15-7, 8-15, 15-10: Loni Stevens served five aces and the Eagles remained unbeaten in region play by dumping the Beavers.

Enterprise def. Parowan 14-16, 15-11, 15-10: Tana Shurtliff pounded out 18 kills and six blocks, while Kate Hess added 12 kills and eight digs to lead the Wolves past the Rams.

Region 12

Grantsville def. Juab 17-15, 15-12: The Cowboys picked up their first region win of the season by knocking off the Wasps, who received 12 points from Allynne Bailey.

St. Joseph def. Gunnison 15-4, 15-7: The Jayhawks took advantage of poor serving by the Bulldogs to pick up the road victory.

Manti def. North Summit 15-3, 4-15, 15-7: The Templars kept their perfect record alive with a tough win over the Braves.

Rowland Hall def. South Summit 9-15, 15-12, 15-13: The defensive effort of Jenna Gelgotis and Kacie Tachika was enough to help the Winged Lions rally past the Wildcats.

Region 14

Tintic def. Mt. Vernon 15-11, 3-15, 15-3: The net play of Crystal Jensen and serving of Amber Jones help the Miners bury the Patriots.

Waterford def. S.L. Lutheran 15-17, 15-10, 15-5: Ashley Gull and Sarah Stockholm had seven kills each for the Wolves as they rallied to knock off the Lynx.
