Death: Melvin N. Fischer

Melvin N. Fischer, 40 passed away September 27, 1997 due to injuries sustained during a white water rafting accident.

Born July 11, 1957 in Augsburg, Germany to Jared and Astrid Koch Fischer. Graduated Olympus High School class 1975. Married Kathleen Pearce Fischer, July 28, 1984 and was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Mel was the distinguished owner/operator of Auto Masters, West Valley City. Mel will be remembered by family and friends for his kindness and generosity as well as his passion for demolition derbies. (#31 Sledgehammer).Mel was a devoted father, husband, son, brother and friend.

He is survived by his loving wife; sons, Jason, Jesse, Jaryd; daughters Jamee and Julee Hunt; parents; brother, Milton (Karin), Austin, TX; sisters, Monika (Dave) Lockridge, Powder Springs, GA and Marilyn (Marty) Elizondo, Salt Lake City; and in-laws, Richard and Joan Pearce.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Oct. 2, 1997, 12 noon at the Jordan River 12th Ward (10200 So. 1300 West). Friends may pay their respects, Oct. 1, 1997 from 6-8 p.m. at the Redwood Memorial Estates, 6500 So. Redwood Rd.) and one hour prior to services at the church.
