#44 RICH KELLEY

Position: Center

Height: 7-0 Weight: 240

College: Stanford '75

Age: 44

Residence: Woodside, Calif.

Family: Married (Gina) with two children: Riley Ann and Sam

Personal: Since retiring from professional basketball, Kelley has worked as a real estate developer. He maintains ties with the Jazz organization as an advance scout, covering games at Golden State or Sacramento.

Jazz years: 1974-79 (New Orleans); 1982-85 (Utah).

Jazz stats: Played in 497 games with career averages of 8.1 points and 8.0 rebounds.

Jazz memory: Kelley said he has two - Utah's 1983-84 Midwest Division championship (the first in franchise history) and the infamous playoff game with Houston on April 28, 1985.

"I just remember that whole season as magical because we were picked to be last," he said. "It was just a great coming together."

Kelley also has fond memories of Utah's 104-97 series-clinching win over Houston in Game 5 of the 1985 playoffs. The game is held in Jazz lore as the "punch heard 'round the basketball world" when a young Akeem Olajuwon struck Billy Paultz in the face - sparking a rally by Jazz reserves.

"Billy took one for the team," said Kelley. "And it was a great comeback by the second team."
