Ogden neighborhood to get restoration funds

The Eccles Foundation has pledged $33,000 to help the Utah Heritage Foundation restore an Ogden neighborhood.

The money will be distributed as low-income loans to the owners of historical properties and homes in the East Central City portion of Ogden.Utah Heritage Foundation director Lisbeth Henning thanked George and Dolores Eccles for the gift after announcing the grant at the Ogden Egyptian Center Friday night.

Henning also thanked the Weber County Heritage Foundation and the L.T. and J.T. Dee Foundation for challenge grants they made to the fund.

The foundation is expecting to raise at least $360,000 to lend to the neighborhood over a three-year period, which will begin in spring 1998.
