Death: Johnny Mageras

John Paul Mageras passed away October 9, 1997 at the University of Utah Medical Center.

He was born July 18, 1914 in Magna, Utah to Nick and Georgia Mageras. Johnny was the youngest son of seven children. He married Helen Toronto, August 15, 1942; she preceded him in death, November 2, 1960. He married Helen Wilhelm Sundin, May 4, 1961. She preceded him in death, November 19, 1995.Johnny was the hard working owner and proprietor of several Salt Lake restaurants including, the Pony Express Cafe and the Stagecoach Restaurant. Johnny's life passion was golf. For over 50 years he was involved in golf as a player, competitor and teaching professional. He and his first wife are survived by their children: Daniel Mageras, St. Petersburg, FL; Richard Mageras, Palm Springs, CA; Nancy Mageras, Tommy Mageras, and Ginny Lyman, all of Salt Lake City. He is also survived by a step-son, Randy Sundin, Salt Lake City; a sister, Eve Gisler, Denver, CO, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services Tuesday, October 14, 1997, 1 p.m., Larkin Sunset Lawn Mortuary Chapel, 2350 E. 1300 South, where friends may call Monday evening 6-8 p.m. and on Tuesday, one hour prior to the service. Interment: Larkin Sunset Lawn.
