Death: Elaine C. Garrett

Elaine C. Garrett, age 78, died October 9, 1997 after a courageous bout with cancer at the Central Valley Medical Center in Nephi, Utah.

She was born December 2, 1918 in Santaquin, Utah to John A. and Lavina Carter Croff. She married John V. Garrett, September 16, 1937 in the Manti LDS Temple.She lived in Nephi all her life and was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved reading, crafting, singing, and serving others. She enjoyed the winters in Arizona with her friends there. She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and devout member of the LDS Church, serving as Primary president, teacher, chorister, member of the ward choir, and 100% visiting teacher.

Survived by her husband of 60 years, John V. Garrett; children, Janice (Arlyn) Steele of Santaquin; Launa (Keith) Barney of Midway; John V. Jr. (Deanna) of Bountiful; Patsy (Lynn) Bailey of Nephi; sisters, Genevieve Jex; Dorothy Gledhill; Geraldean Hiatt; LaJuan Olsen; 20 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by four sisters and a grandson.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, Octovber 13, 1997 in the Nephi 4th Ward, 345 East 500 North. Friends may call Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home, 94 West 300 North and at the church one hour prior to services. Burial in the Vine Bluff Cemetery, Nephi, Utah.
