Death: Elna Christensen Andersen

Elna Christensen Andersen, 97, passed away October 8, 1997.

Elna was born May 8, 1900 in Hobro, Denmark. At age 12, she emigrated to the United states with her family and settled in Moroni, Utah. She learned English quickly and within three years became the top student in all Sanpete County. She ha a bright mind and a superb memory which she applied in writing personal and family histories, as well as in other areas.She married Ernest Van Nostrand Andersen, June 6, 1923 in the Manti LDS Temple. This happy union produced six children. Mother had a cheerful and positive attitude about life. She was generous, compassionate, and devoted to her family. She served in many capacities both in the LDS Church and community, including Primary, Relief Society and Stake Mission. She was a hard worker, creative, and known for her beautiful handwork, especially her many quilts and afghans, which earned her many State Fair prizes. Many of these were gifts to her children, grandchildren, neighbors, and friends.

She is survived by her children, Elaine (Joseph) Rawlinson, Northridge, California; H. Neil (Murial) Andersen, West Jordan; Anina (Morris, deceased) Haggerty, Murray; Elden K. (Beverly) Andersen, West Jordan; Dean M. (Elizabeth) Andersen, West Jordan; Elsie V. (Murray) Smith, Provo; a sister, Eleonora Christensen, California; 29 grandchildren; 66 great-grandchildren and four great great-grandchildren. Her husband, Ernest, preceded her in death, January 25, 1997.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 15, 1997 at 12 noon at the West Jordan 28th Ward Chapel, 2666 West 7000 So. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, 6-8 p.m. at Redwood Memorial Estates, 6500 So. Redwood Rd. and one hour prior to the services at the church. Burial, Redwood Memorial Estates.
