A Logan woman and two children were killed Saturday when their car was struck by a truck in Brigham City.
A Salt Lake man died when he ran into a concrete barrier on his motorcycle Friday.Killed were:
Rachel Hughes, 30, Logan.
Josslyn Hughes, 4, Logan.
Justin Hughes, 4, Logan.
Miguel Garcia, 22, Salt Lake City.
Rachel Hughes' car was westbound on U.S. 89 when she apparently lost control and veered on the wet road into eastbound lanes. An eastbound pickup truck hit the car, according to a Brigham Police Department report.
The report didn't say whether the woman or children were wearing seat belts.
The truck driver, a 44-year-old Salt Lake man, was uninjured. A woman riding with him suffered minor injuries. Police did not release their names.
Police say Garcia was northbound on Bangerter Highway near 800 South about 6:30 p.m. Friday when he lost control of his motorcycle, rammed against the right concrete barrier and collided with an exit sign.
Because of damage to the sign and the condition of Garcia's body, he may have been traveling at a high rate of speed, Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Burk McBride said. No skid marks wee found on the road.
Garcia, who did not have a motorcycle license and was not wearing a helmet, was found in a dirt field to the right of the highway, about 600 feet from the motorcycle, McBride said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
