ABA elects Utah native to section post

Marcia Gunnell Madsen, a Bountiful native and University of Utah graduate, has been elected chairwoman of the American Bar Association's Section of Public Contract Law.

Madsen, a graduate of the American University Washington College of Law, has practiced contract law since 1985. She is a member of the Washington, D.C., law firm of Miller & Chevalier.The ABA section that she will head comprises attorneys nationwide who focus on contracting with federal, state, county and local government entities.

Madsen served as a Hinckley intern and later as an aide to former Sen. Wallace F. Bennett. She is a member of the District of Columbia Bar, U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia and U.S. Court of Appeals 4th and 6th Circuits. She also serves on the Court of Federal Claims Bar Association Board of Governors.
