Give light rail a red light

I've been following the yammering and braying from the politicians, news media and bureaucrats about how "great" light rail will be for Salt Lake County and how it will "solve all those transportation problems."

First, the people of Salt Lake County overwhelmingly voted against light rail. Second, the check from the federal government is worthless. There is no difference between a debt of $5 trillion-plus and bankruptcy. Third, since federal money is the big factor, the light-rail system should be called Federally Assisted Rapid Transit to comply with the truth-in-advertising laws. Fourth, the politicians, bureaucrats and news media people pushing this thing deserve a good poke in the backside with a pin. They are so full of hot air, they will all pop like balloons.Gene Wagstaff
