Three people will receive the Salt Lake Area Chamber of Commerce Pathfinder Award during the 21st annual Women & Business Conference on Wednesday, Oct. 15, in the Salt Palace Convention Center. They are Grethe Peterson, Kayleen Simmons and Susie Adams.
Peterson is the chairwoman of the Salt Lake County Children's Justice Center. She has been chairwoman of the Utah Endowment for the Humanities, was instrumental in organizing Women Concerned about Nuclear War and was chairwoman of the Governor's Task Force on Sexual Abuse, which resulted in creation of the Children's Justice Center.Simmons is the founder and president of The Simmons Group, a seminar company. While serving on the Public Relations Committee of the self-sufficiency program for the state's Office of Family Support, Simmons founded People Helping People, a volunteer mentoring program that helps women on assistance develop personal management skills.
Adams is the executive director of People Helping People, a private, non-profit corporation that contracts with the Utah Department of Workforce Services to match single mothers in the welfare system with women in the business world.
