San Diego State QB may be out for season

San Diego State quarterback Kevin McKechnie could miss the rest of the season after injuring his back in the fourth quarter of Saturday night's loss to New Mexico.

A bone scan on Monday revealed a compression fracture in McKechnie's 12th thoracic vertebrae in the mid-back area.Coach Ted Tollner said McKechnie could be out four to six weeks. The Aztecs (1-5) have six games left, the next one at home against UNLV on Saturday night.

Tollner said he will decide on a starter later this week.
