Death: Emma Megenity

Emma Dalton Megenity, age 90, died October 11, 1997, at the home of her daughter.

Born August 2, 1907, in New Albany, Mississippi, a daughter of Robert N. and Mary Lou Robertson Dalton. In 1912 her family moved to Okmulgee, Oklahoma. She graduated from Okmulgee High School in 1925, and married Ernest Megenity on December 25, 1926. He died July 16, 1965.In 1943 the family moved to Utah where she worked at Hill Air Force Base during World War II teaching the POWs English. In 1946 they moved to Salt Lake City where she worked for many years for Leyson-Pearsall Jewelry. She retired in 1973 from Physicians Ortho Med. She was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church and belonged to P.E.O.

She is survived by her daughters, Mary Ellen Megenity of Salt Lake City, and Ruth A. Wilson (Thomas) McKean of Gunlock, UT; five grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and one greatgreat-grandchild. She was preceded by her daughter, Betty Lou (Harold) VanDenBerghe, a grandson, David G. Wilson, and all of her siblings. She was the matriarch of family reunions and will be missed by all.

Our family is especially grateful to Bryce, Julie, and Kim in Salt Lake City, and to Hospice of St. George, UT. Thank you all.

Funeral services will be held at Evans and Early Mortuary, 574 East 1st South, on Wednesday, October 15, 1997, at 12 noon. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until time of service. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Memorial Foundation Fund, First United Methodist Church, 203 South 200 East, Salt Lake City, UT 84111. Burial will be in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery under the direction of Mosdell Mortuary of Kanab, UT.
