Death: Wallace Christian Nielsen

Beloved father, grandfather, neighbor, and friend, Wallace Christian Nielsen, returned to his Heavenly Father and loving wife on Saturday, October 11, 1997, due to complications from Pneumonia.

Born June 12, 1909, to Christian Rhody and Olive Catherine Christiansen Nielsen in Mayfield, Utah. In 1924, he moved to Emery, Utah with his mother and step-father, Elmer Addley. In 1929, he moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, and had lived there ever since. He married Lura Dell Henderson on January 9, 1936. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on May 21, 1936, by Harold B. Lee. He served three years in the Army during World War II, and was employed by the US Government for 27 years. Despite his slowly progressing blindness over the past 15 years, he still lived a full independent life and will be missed immensely by so many people.He is survived by a son, Michael Phil Sr. and his wife, Debra E. Nielsen, Salt Lake City; three grandchildren: Michael Phil Jr. and his wife, Elizabeth M. Nielsen, Cherie Lynn and her husband, Wayne Kim Crowder, Cristian Cameron Nielsen, four great-grandchildren: Erica, Shenielle, Victoria, and Marcello. He is also survived by two sisters: Thelma Hardman, Salt Lake City and Zella Pizzutto, Price; one brother, Darr Addley, Altamont. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lura, five brothers, and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 16, 1997 at Deseret Memorial Mortuary, 36 East 700 South. where friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to services. Interment will be at Lake Hills Memorial Cemetery.
