Death: Robert D. Thomas

Beloved husband, father and grandfather, Robert Dean Thomas, 69, returned to his Father in Heaven on October 14, 1997.

Born April 12, 1928 to Richard E. and Mabel Markham Thomas in Garfield, Utah. Graduated from Cyprus High School in Magna, Utah in 1946, where he served as Student Body President. Married Merrie (Mary) Rasmussen April 2, 1948, later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple December 6, 1966. Served in many capacities in the LDS church including Bishop's counselor, Young Men's organization and activities committee. Bob was currently serving as the secretary in the High Priest Group in the Parkside Ward, Magna Utah Stake.Bob served in the field artillery during the Korean war. Honorably discharged May 5, 1952. He retired from Kennecott Copper after 41 years of employment. Also retired from Federal Express after six years. Bob was currently employed by Avis Car Rental.

Bob was loved by all who knew him. He was a true Christian and a giver. He always had a smile for everyone. He touched many lives and we will miss him dearly.

Survived by his wife, Mary Rasmussen Thomas, children, Sherrie (Dave) Simpson, Kathy (Stephen) Thomas, Sandi (Kim) Bradshaw, and Tracy (Greg) Wilkinson, 13 grandchildren, sister, Marilyn (Dwayne) Anderson, and sisters-in-law, Joyce Thomas and Bessie Snell.

Thanks to the Avis Employees and staff at Pioneer Valley Hospital for their concern, care and in attempting to revive him.

Funeral services will be held Friday October 17, 1997 11 a.m. at the Magna Stake Center, 3084 South 8400 West. Friends may call Thursday 6-8 p.m. at the Peel Funeral Home, 8525 West 2700 South, Magna, and Friday 10-10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment: Valley View Memorial Park.
