Transportation open house to offer look at traffic plans

Mountainland Association of Governments will hold its annual Transportation/Community Planning Open House from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 22, at the Orem Friendship Senior Center, 93 N. 400 East.

The open house is held in conjunction with various cities throughout Utah County, the Utah Department of Transportation and the Utah Transit Authority.Planners and engineers from various cities will be present to answer questions.

Cities will display general plans, upcoming road projects (including the Orem bond projects and University Avenue/I-15 Interchange), zoning and transportation maps, trail information, plans for the new Provo Town Center Mall and new commercial and residential development proposals.

Consultants doing the study for commuter rail will display maps, show suggested station locations and answer questions. The Utah Valley State College consultant will display the various interchange design options for the University Parkway/I-15 Interchange.

A transportation commissioner and UDOT representatives will be available to discuss present and future road projects and the status of major highway projects contained in the State Transportation Improvement Plan for the next five years. The I-15 reconstruction team will be available for comments as well.

Mountainland representatives will present the transportation projects scheduled for the next five years, the recently approved Utah Valley Long Range Transportation Plan for 1997-2020, Air Quality conformity updates, water quality information and regional trail maps.
