Davis County's new indoor arena is on schedule and should be ready for use by April.
Barry Burton, assistant director of county community and economic development, told the County Commission the $3.2 million building will be finished by the contractor about Christmas. After that, the county has a number of other projects planned in order to complete the building by spring.
When finished, the arena will have 2,200 permanent seats, and Burton said the facility can add enough temporary seating to handle a crowd of 5,000 people for concerts and other big events.
Burton expects the arena to reach capacity a lot more often than other similar county arenas because Davis County wisely didn't overbuild it.
The County Commission recently granted several change orders, increasing the overall cost of the building by $4,900.
