The Springville Museum of Art and the Statewide Art Partnership are sponsoring the "Evenings for Educators" at the museum for the academic year 1997-98. "Pioneer Images of Utah" is the theme for the Wednesday, Oct. 29, event from 7-9:30 p.m. Teachers, docents and the public are invited. Admission is free. - 26 original Norman Rockwell paintings and drawings are now on exhibit at the Springville Museum of Art through Nov. 30. Many of the paintings are among the artist's best. They include "Two Plumber's and a Dog" and "Icabod Crane." The exhibit is a fund-raising event for the Centennial Wing Project. The minimum requested donation is $3 for adults, $2 for seniors or $8 for a family.
WORKSHOPS AND LECTURES
- Attorney Ron Yengich will lead a discussion on the issues addressed in the documentary "Iron Horse," a film about the illegal destruction of a work of public art on the University of Georgia Campus, and draw comparisons to the destruction of Richard Johnston's sculpture on the Utah Valley Community College campus.
- The Division of Continuing Education, University of Utah, will sponsor "Drawing With the Masters," art classes for grades 5-9, Thursdays, through Oct. 23 from 3:30-5 p.m. at the Utah Museum of Fine Art. For further information and to register, phone U. Youth Education at 581-6984.
