The Senior Companions of Utah, Wasatch and Summit counties donated 36 "quillows" to eight care centers where they serve elderly clients. The presentations were part of the groups' "Make a Difference Day."
Quillows are lap quilts with a pocket. The quilt folds into the pocket forming a pillow. The Senior Companions donated fabric, batting and time to help bring comfort to residents at the Orchard Park Care Center, Robbins Friendship Center, Orem Nursing and Rehabilitation, Family Care Center, Todholm, Hales Rest Home and Rocky Mountain Care Center.More than 50 Senior Companion volunteers provide 1,000 hours of service weekly to 320 clients. The companions are men and women age 60 and over who provide companionship and support to the frail elderly.
