Eaves credits Frank Layden for making his NBA career an enjoyable experience. His former coach is always a topic of conversation whenever Eaves and former college and pro teammate Darrell Griffith get together.

Eaves, who has spent time as an assistant coach at the collegiate and professional levels, said he has followed the Jazz ever since his two years as a player with the team.

"They played real well in the Finals, and I was pulling for them," said Eaves. "I'm proud of them."
