Idaho State kicks its way past SUU

James Ferrell booted five field goals for a school record in leading Idaho State University to a 46-31 win over Southern Utah.

Anthony Jefferies scored two touchdowns for Southern Utah (4-3) in the first half, and the Thunderbirds led 13-8 in the second quarter.But the Thunderbirds were not able to hold onto the lead. Southern Utah struggled to keep up as Idaho State (1-5) scored 35 points in the second half.

Anthony Elgaaen led the Bengals with 85 yards rushing and scored one touchdown.

The Thunderbirds committed eight turnovers while passing for 205 yards and rushing for 272.

Bengal free safety Trevor Bell had two interceptions, two fumble recoveries and a 53-yard punt return for a touchdown.
