Death: Robert Dale Hawk

Our beloved husband, father, and brother, Robert Dale Hawk, returned to his Heavenly Father on Friday, October 17, 1997, after a courageous battle with A.L.S. (Lou Gehrig's Disease).

Bob was born on January 22, 1937 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, to James (Shorty) Homer and Ethel Mary Harelson Hawk. He graduated from Oklahoma State University with a Ph.D. in Engineering and had a distinguished career in the aerospace industry, contributing to the development of the Tomahawk Missile. Bob married Karol Lee Griffey on March 30, 1985, in Woodland Hills, CA., and moved to North Salt Lake, UT in 1994. Bob became a member of the LDS Church on June 1, 1996, and he was sealed to Karol for eternity in the Bountiful, UT Temple on March 6, 1997.Bob was a loving individual and a wonderful example to the end, of faith, courage, and a determination to do what is right. He has touched the lives of many people and will always be remembered for his beautiful smile, integrity and selfless attitude.

Bob is survived by his wife, Karol; sons, Mark (Jacqueline), Boston, MA; Ron (Lisa), Henrietta, OK; David (Angela) Altus, OK; and a daughter, Mary (Jeff) Warnock, Schulter, OK. He is also survived by two brothers, Marvin (Syble) Lawton, OK; John (Marty) Owen's Crossroads, AL; and by Karol's children, Erik (Lisa) Grigg, Huntington Beach, CA; and Sabrina (Bob) Licari, Portland, OR. Bob and Karol also have fourteen wonderful grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, October 21, 1997, at the Eagle Ridge LDS Chapel, 200 South Eagle Ridge Blvd., North Salt Lake, UT. Friends and family may call at Lindquist's Bountiful Mortuary, 727 No. 400 E., from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, and at the chapel one hour prior to the services. Interment Lakeview Memorial Estates, 1640 E. Lakeview Dr., Bountiful. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to the family to help defray cost of the funeral.
