Death: J. Harold Burgon

J. Harold Burgon, age 85, passed away peacefully at home on October 18, 1997.

Born May 11, 1912 in West Jordan, Utah to Ernest L. and Alice Shulsen Burgon. Married Emma May Steadman on March 2, 1933 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Harold attended Jordan High School, worked as a welder and retired from Lang Wayne Equipment. Former employee of Remington Arms and Quality Oil Company. Active member of LDS church serving in the bishopric, MIA, Athletic Director, with his wife in the Milwaukee Wisconsin Mission from 1982-83 and three stake missions. Harold loved working with youth along with serving as a Jordan River and Salt Lake Temple worker.Survived by wife; daughters, Marjorie (Gale) Palmer, Murray; Pamela (Lee) Rugg, Draper; Marjatta Malkonen, Finland; 19 grandchildren, one serving a mission in the Dominican Republic; 24 great-grandchildren; sisters, Rela Ackerman, Marquita Halvorsen, Billie (Elmer) Tripp, and Jean (Allen) Robertson. Preceded in death by son, James (Jim) H. Burgon, Jr.; parents, two brothers and four sisters.

Funeral services, Wednesday, Oct. 22, 1997, 12 noon, Jordan River 1st Ward, 10200 So. 1300 W. Friends may call Tuesday 6-8 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 So. State and Wednesday 10:45-11:45 a.m. at the church. Interment Murray City Cemetery.
