Death: Eugene Ray ""Gene"" Halliday

Eugene Ray Halliday of Salt Lake City died September 30, 1997 at the age of 80.

Gene was born June 15, 1917 in Pleasant Grove Utah to David Owen and Hannah Jane Bullock Halliday. He was an active member of the LDS Church. He graduated from Pleasant Grove High School and LDS Seminary. After high school he joined the National Guard of Utah and served with them from 1935 to 1939. He then served in the United States Army in the Asiatic Pacific Campaign during World War II from 1945 until 1946. He married Lyle Hooley, later divorced. He married Bessie Nielsen, who died in 1948. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. On Aug. 23, 1950 he married Jean Evans in the Logan LDS Temple.He worked for Wasatch Southern Gasoline Co. and Phillips 66 Gasoline Co., transporting gasoline products for over 30 years and later attended Utah Barber College and enjoyed a barbering career for more than 30 years.

He is survived by his wife, Jean of 47 years; a son, Glen Halliday, Los Angeles, Calif. (by first wife); a brother, Blaine Halliday, Green Valley, AZ.; a sister, Rhea Robinson, Tucson AZ. and many loving nieces and nephews and grandnieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother and father; a sister, Ella Jackson and a brother, Reed Halliday.

Funeral services will be held Sat., October 4 at 1 p.m. at the Cottonwood Heights 5th Ward Meeting House, 7075 South 2245 East, Salt Lake City, UT. A viewing will be held Friday, October 3, at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Gardens, 3401 South Highland Dr., Salt Lake City from 6 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery, 500 North and 100 East. Funeral services under the direction of Olpin Family Mortuary, Pleasant Grove, UT.
