COACHES CLINIC: The annual Utah High School Basketball Coaches Association clinic is set for Saturday, Nov. 1, at the BYU Marriott Center. The clinic, which is open to all head and assistant coaches (male and female) at any level, features instruction from the BYU men's basketball program. Registration is $40 at the door 30 minutes before the clinic begins at 9 a.m. For information contact UHSBCA president Rob Cuff at 227-2400.


LIMO DRIVER CHARGED: The driver of the limousine involved in an accident that injured two Detroit Red Wings will be charged with driving without a license, prosecutors said. The one misdemeanor count - driving with a suspended license, second offense - means no felony prosecution is planned despite marijuana in the driver's system.


UTAH SECTION MATCH PLAY: Defending champion Kim Thompson advanced to the semifinals of the Utah Section PGA Match Play Championship Wednesday at Wingpointe Golf Course along with Nick Klassen, Matt Johnson and Mark Owen.

Thompson defeated Greg Stimpson 3 and 1 in the morning and came back to edge Jeff Green 1-up in the afternoon. He was to meet Klassen, who defeated Mike Bicker and Ryan Rhees in Thursday's semifinals.

In the senior division, Kean Ridd, Jim Bolton, Joey Bonsignore and Larry Thomas all advanced to the semifinals.
