Provo lecture to focus on risks for youths

The Provo Police Department will host a free lunch/lecture at noon Friday, Oct. 3, in the City Council chambers as part of Crime Prevention Month. Sheree Svensson will be the featured speaker.

Svensson will identify 40 developmental assets that are critical in shaping the lives of young people. The Police Department wants residents to be more aware of risk factors for youths.Svensson said the difference between teens in trouble and teens who lead healthy, productive lives is the presence or absence of developmental assets. "The more assets young people have, the less likely they are to engage in risky behaviors," Svensson said.

The public is invited. For more information, call Karen Mayne at 379-6251.
