Hypothermia claimed the life of a Provo man who was found on the back side of Mt. Timpanogos Saturday, sheriff's officials said.
Killed was:Leon K. Roman, 41, Provo.
Roman died near Emerald Lake sometime between Tuesday and Saturday, said Utah County Sheriff's Lt. Ron Fernstedt. The man, he said, climbed the mountain to "meditate" and "find himself."
Two deer hunters found Roman's body Saturday morning. They told a goat hunter who called the sheriff's office about 3:15 p.m., Fernstedt said.
The Utah County sheriff's search and rescue team reached the body late Saturday. It was taken out by helicopter about 11 p.m. along with two search and rescue team members battling hypothermia.
