BYU nabs standout at junior college

California junior-college standout Ron Selleaze, who played at Fresno City College last year for new BYU basketball coach Steve Cleveland, has orally committed to play for the Cougars and his former coach.

Selleaze, a first-team all-state selection who averaged 15.3 points and 7.9 rebounds a game last year, is completing academic requirements and may be eligible to play for BYU as early as December. He'll sign a national letter of intent next month.He signed last fall to play with Washington State but failed to qualify academically. When he joins BYU, he'll have only 1 1/2 years of eligibility available.
