Target keeping profits from tribute to Diana

Target Stores are keeping the profits from Elton John's tribute to Princess Diana because they already give enough to charity.

The Minneapolis-based discount retailer defended its decision Tuesday, saying it donates 5 percent of all pretax profits to charities nationwide, for charitable gifts of $38 million this year."There was never any agreement or suggestion that retailers would donate proceeds from the sale of the CD to the charity in question," Target, a division of retailer Dayton Hudson Corp., said in a statement.
