Death: Dorothy Jacob

Dorothy Scott Easter Jacob passed away peacefully Monday, October 20, 1997 in Bountiful, Utah, at the age of 84, of various illnesses.

She was born February 9, 1913 in Great Grimsby, Lincolnshire, England, daughter of George and Hannah Charlotte Skipper Easter. She emigrated to Utah in 1927. Graduated from East High School. Married John Herbert Jacob, August 28, 1936 in the Salt Lake Temple; he preceded her in death September 28, 1990.She magnified various callings she held in the LDS Church including Relief Society President in two wards, Granger 1st and Union 12th. Genealogy work was one of her great missions on earth. She searched out many generations of ancestors and prepared many family histories. She also shared her genealogical talents with many others. She was very intelligent and an avid reader and seeker of knowledge. She developed a command of the German language while serving a mission to Austria with her husband in 1975-1976. She loved singing and shared that love with others including many doctors and nurses.As a devoted wife and mother, with strong faith and trust in the Lord, she always taught her family to do what is right.

She is survived by four sons and one daughter, Richard John (Jackie) Jacob, Tempe, AZ; Claudia Ann (Larry) Anderson, Oak Harbor, WA; Joseph John (Melinda) Jacob, Othello, WA; Paul John (Pam) Jacob, Lafayette, CA; and Lance John (Julie) Jacob, Magna; beloved sister, Thelma Coombs, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada; and Stanley (Nancy) Baker, Boise, Idaho, who was a foster son in the past and always considered as one of the family; 26 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters.

Her family wishes to express their appreciation to the doctors, nurses and other health aides of Creekside Home Health Care, University Hospital and Life Care Center of Bountiful for their services in her behalf.

Funeral services will be held Friday, 12 p.m. at the 14th Ward, Salt Lake Stake, 142 West 200 North. Friends may call Thursday, 6-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road and Friday at the church, one hour prior to services. Interment, Valley View Memorial Park.
