Archie Dee Hill, age 66, of Rigby, Idaho, died October 20, 1997 at Columbia Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center following a heart attack.
He was born March 2, 1931, at Logan, Utah, the son of Archie Gibson Hill and May Jensen Hill. He grew up and attended schools in Richmond, where he graduated from North Cache High School. He then moved to Salt Lake City, where he obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering at the University of Utah. He later obtained his Masters Degree from the University of Idaho.He married LaWana Butler, September 21, 1955, in Logan LDS Temple. They made their home in Idaho Falls until 1984, when they moved to Rigby. He worked as an Electrical Engineer for Phillips Petroleum and EG&G at the INEEL until taking early retirement. Since that time, he has been a greeter at Wal-Mart.
Active in the LDS Church, he served in various capacities over the years, including bishop's counselor in Idaho Falls. He served as president of the Idaho Falls Lions Club and was a member of the Fallsmen Barbershop Quartet. He was a lifetime scouter and served as Scoutmaster in the Boy Scouts of America. He enjoyed sailing, traveling, singing, building his home, hunting and fishing. He loved people and especially his grandchildren.
Surviving are, his wife, LaWana Hill, Rigby, ID; daughter, Patricia Mac (husband, Scott) Spackman, Ririe, ID; son, Ryan Dee (wife, Pojana) Hill, Tacoma, WA; son, Gregory Rees (wife, Christi) Hill, Boise, ID; son, Brett Butler (wife, Becky) Hill, Salt Lake City; brother, Dennis Hill, Kaysville; brother, Kenneth Hill, Bulgaria; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Morris Hill, and a sister, Anna Mae Ebert.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 25, 1997 at 11 a.m. at the Rigby LDS 3rd Ward Chapel, 71 No. 3700 E. with Bishop Reed Jenkins officiating. The family will visit with friends on Friday from 7-8:30 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, and for one hour prior to the services on Saturday at the church. Interment will be in the Richmond City Cemetery at Richmond, Ut. under the direction of Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Ave, Idaho Falls, Phone 208-522-2751.
